Prior to joining the BYU faculty, Tim served as the Artistic Director for Seattle Civic Light Opera, and Northwest Summer Playhouse, as well as Education Programs Coordinator for Seattle Children’s Theatre. Tim was also a member of the AEA acting ensemble at Seattle’s Bathhouse Theatre for three seasons. He holds an MFA from the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington under the direction of Robert L. Hobbs and Jack Clay. Tim recently directed the American Premiere of Chariots of Fire here at Brigham Young University. He also recently directed Neil Simon’s Last of the Red Hot Lovers at the famed Cape Playhouse on Cape Cod in Dennis, Mass. Tim has directed 13 productions at Tuacahn Amphitheatre in St. George, Utah including the recent production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as Aida, Beauty and the Beast, Big River, The Wizard of Oz and Grease. Dozens of BYU alumni and students have worked at Tuacahn, which operates under a LORT contract with Actors’ Equity Association and auditions in New York and Los Angeles each season. Tim will appear in the upcoming HBO film Mosaic directed by Academy Award winning director Stephen Soderbergh and recently played the role of CIA boss Archie Kehoe in the Granite Flats sequel Wilderness of Spies for BYU/TV. He was also seen in the film Redemption as well as the lead role of Bishop Aaron Young in the LDS market film One Good Man. He has also appeared in numerous LDS Church films such as the popular missionary film, The Restoration. Tim also appeared in multiple episodes of the television series “Everwood” and “Touched By An Angel.” In addition, he directed the BYU Broadcasting production of the musical, Berlin, which won an Emmy, CINE Golden Eagle, and Telly Award. Other BYU directing credits include, Peter Pan, Children of Eden, Dancing at Lughnasa, Quilters, the television production Hancock County. Tim directed the university premiere of Andrew Llyod Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera at BYU in 2012. In 2015 he directed the American Premiere of Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn’s new musical The Count of Monte Cristo also at BYU. In the summer of 2010, Tim appeared in the role of Noah with six-time Tony Award winning actress Audra McDonald and Tony nominee Will Swenson as they reprised their Broadway roles in the musical 110 In the Shade in Utah. He recently received additional training in the Meisner acting method of actor and led the London Theatre Study Abroad program two years. Tim began the BFA Senior Showcase in New York City for graduating BFA actors and Music Dance Theatre students 15 years ago and continues to direct the program with Rachel Hoffman of Telsey and Company Casting as the New York consultant. This year, while in New York for the Showcase, BYU alumni were featured in a Thursday night session of the popular “Broadway Sessions” cabaret with BYU Broadway alum performing with current graduates. Tim is a member of Actors’ Equity Association; Screen Actor’s Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, (SAG/AFTRA) and Stage Directors and Choreographer’s Society (SDC).
